So. . . I've been MIA for a while, I know. There's a good reason for that. I've been avoiding you all because I'm up almost ten pounds. But there's a good reason for that, too. I'm expecting baby #4 in October.
So now the goal is to not balloon out like I did with the other three and gain too much weight.
I would like to copy Tristi's goal of salad for lunch and dinner. I don't think I can do the dinner though. I could do the lunch, but every night I have to show my kids how to eat their food. That kind of requires me to eat the same thing they are having. My kids hate to eat--they'd much rather run around the dinner table while singing and dropping their food to the floor.
I will still try to exercise as often as possible, which isn't much. But now that it's warmer outside I'm going to try to incorporate walks into our days.
Goal #1: Eat a salad every day for lunch
Goal #2: Go for walks with the kids every week
Goal #3: Don't balloon out and gain 60 pounds with this pregnancy
There is so much life to be lived, so many mountains to climb, so many joys to experience. Come with us as we release our imprisoned best selves and discover all we've been missing.

Go, Leptin, Go!
Thanks Sabine for posting that info. about the Leptin diet. I've been talking to my husband about it and doing some research and I think I'm going to try it. I've read a bunch of testimonials from people who thought they couldn't go so long between meals, but after a few days of strict willpower, they don't have cravings in between meals - some of them even said they don't even think about food throughout the day anymore.
And trying to follow BFL, I've had to think about food all day long, what with planning the meal, making the meal, and cleaning up the meal. Once you do that six times, there's rarely an hour that goes by that I'm not thinking about food.
I was looking at the different books on the subject, trying to decide if I wanted to buy one. The problem is, there are several and I'm not sure which one to go with. I don't want to buy 6 books on Leptin and then decide it's not working for me. :-) There's the "Fat Resistance Diet" and the "Rosedale Diet" and then a couple books by the Byron Richards dude that are just about how the body works in general without as much diet and meal-planning advice, etc. I'm assuming since you called it the "Leptin Diet" instead of one of the others, that that's what you're going off of?
Anyway, just wondering. I think I'm going to start implementing the Leptin Rules right away, too. So we can compare notes on how it's going. :o)

Diet
I think I need to get started on a diet so that when the exercise is harder to do I can still stay on track. Here's what I've decided will be my basics, and I'll work on it from there!
1. Eat at least 8 grams of fiber at breakfast.
2. Have a midmorning and midafternoon snack that is 150 calories.
3. Build every lunch and dinner like a pyramid: Veggies are the base, lean protein is next, and a small amount of healthy carbs tops it off.
4. Avoid sneaky, high-calorie toppings and other add-ons.
5. Have at least three quick planned breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks on hand so temptation doesn't have time.
6. A treat every day.
7. Get at least seven hours of sleep every night.
