Gearing Up ...

My in-laws sent me a gift certificate for my birthday, and I decided to use it for an MP3 player. I picked it up the other night and I really like it, although it did take me a little while to figure out how to turn it off. :) I'm going to be using it while I walk on the track. Now the trick is, finding time to go walk on the track.

I wish it was safer for women to just go walking whenever and wherever they wanted. My husband goes jogging pretty much any time of the day or night, but a woman has to be more careful. I think it would make exercise a lot easier if safety/muggers/big scary dogs weren't an issue.

Glad you've got some tunes. They really help.

Do you have any pepper spray? And maybe one of those annoying air horns people use at football games (to get attention)? And a water bottle? And a pedometer? And sunscreen? Nah, me neither.

Last week I dragged out my old walkman, walked to the library, and checked out a Mary Higgins Clark mystery on cassette. Yes, they still have a few of those. I went for a walk twice last week and listened to the first half of the book. It makes walking less boring.

I have heard there are places where you can download free audio books, but I am not that technologically advanced yet.

Marta, I just listened to my first MHC on tape. Awful reader, but I go a lot done.
Tristi, good luck with the walking. That is my problem as well. The best time for me to track is when I take M for her weekly workouts, but then I usually end up talking to the other moms and get no workout at all. Maybe for those in the area we should have a walking club where we meet once a week and go walk somewhere. In the summer my favorite is Timp cave. We get there at 5:30 get up and down before 7. It is a great workout and there are enough people there that you feel safe. Good luck with finding a place to go!
