A person's worth is not found in how much they weigh. Our worth is inherent. It comes from the knowledge that we are God's children, and nothing we do can ever take our worth away from us. Every soul ever created is a shining being of light, regardless of the size of their packaging.
I'm on a weight-loss journey because I want to be healthy. I want to take my children to the park and run alongside them, rather than sitting on a bench and watching them play. I want to wake up to bright new mornings that are filled with possibilities, and not limitations. I want to be the cool mom who takes her kids swimming instead of sending my husband out to do it for me (he looks a lot better in a suit).
"Pushing Past the Pounds" isn't about finding my worth through weight loss. It's about bringing myself to a place where I can physically accomplish all I desire. It's about bringing my blood pressure down and my energy up. It's about finding accountability with my blog team and also with our blog readers. It's about sharing our thoughts and leaning on each other.
I hope you'll join us as we explore this new path. We hope our stories resonate with you and that you'll find this blog a place of refuge and understanding. And if you've found success in your own journey, we'd love to hear how you did it. Please, come back often and cheer us on as we push past the pounds.

True words with such an inspriational message, yet that message gets lost in this day and age of "keeping up with the Jones'" and "thin is in"-and is especially difficult to teach to children. What a wonderful goal to work toward, to be not just a number, but to focus on achieving anything you set your mind to without the restriction of weight.
Your post echoes the same thoughts I have had, and I am glad to be able to encourage you on your journey!
